Trip Introduction
This trek starts from Beni near Pokhara and follows a trail around Mt. Dhaulagiri which is one of the highest mountains in the world at a height of 8167m. During the trek we will pass through remote villages and farms inhabitated by the Gurung, Magar and Tamang peoples. You can also enjoy the spectacular views of the Annapurna and Dhaualagiri mountain ranges along the way. The trek is quite difficult, ascending steeply to cross the Dhampus Pass at 5400m and with camping accommodation for much of the trek. After the pass the trail joins the same route as the Annapurna Circuit trek and continues along this until the end Nayapull.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Namaste and welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. You will be meet at the airport and be transfered to your hotel for check-in. After time to get refreshed, you will be meet in the evening for a welcome dinner in one of the finest Nepalese restaurants which includes a cultural show. Then afterwards you will be briefed about your trip and brought back to the Hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sight-seeing
Today, after breakfast you will go on a guided sightseeing tour of the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding Valley. You will visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, with its fine views over Kathmandu valley. The temple has many interesting features as well as the great stupa with highest point to the Kathmandu valley.
After this you can join the devotees, pilgrims and wandering saddhus (holy men) at Pashupatinath. Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal as well as being one of the most important Shiva temples on the subcontinent. It is situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River where you may have a chance to see a cremation on the River bank.
Take time to walk around Bodhnath (Boudha) stupa, the largest in Nepal and one of the largest in the world. Boudha is also the centre of Tibetan culture in Nepal and a wonderfully vibrant, interesting community.
Explore the temples and courtyards of Patan, also known as the City of Fine Arts. In the evening we’ll drive back to Kathmandu where we’ll have a group briefing on what to expect when our trek begins tomorrow. The remainder of the evening is free for you to explore the surrounding area or simply relax at the hotel.
DAY 03: Kathmandu To Pokhara & To Beni
After an early breakfast, we take a tourist bus or flight to Pokhara. Upon reaching Pokhara drive for 4 – 5 hours towards Beni, where we will camp for the night.
In the morning we will walk for about 5 – 6 hours through a steep uphill trail and along the bank of the Myagdi river until we reach a place called Babi Chaur. This is a small village where one can find mixed inhabitants. We camp for the night at Babi Chaur.
DAY 05: Babi Chaur To Dharapani
Today we walk for about 2 – 3 hours through another steep uphill trail to reach Darbang where we will have lunch. Later after crossing the Myagdi river, we walk again for 3 – 4 hours more to reach Dharapani, where we will camp for the night. From here you can see the mountains Dhawalagiri 1, 2, and 3.
DAY 06: Dharapani To Muri
Today we walk for abourt5 – 6 hours, through steep upward and downward trails and passing through various small villages to reach Muri, where we camp for the night. Muri is a nice village from where one can see beautiful views of the mountains.
DAY 07: Muri To Bagar
After walking through steep uphill and downhill trails and forest for about 5 – 6 hours we reach a village called Bagar, the last village on this trail. We will camp here for the night.
DAY 08: Bagar To Dobang
Today we cannot see any peaks during the walk on the trail but there are beautiful views of the landscape. After walking for about 5 – 6 hours we reach a place called Dobang, where we stay overnight at the camp.
DAY 09: Dobang To Italian Camp
Today we walk through the dense jungle and the river banks for about 5 – 6 hours to reach Italian Base Camp where we will spend the night. This place is named after a group of Italian trekkers who were the first people to camp here.
DAY 10: Rest Day/ Explore Day At Italian Base camp
Rest day at the Italian base camp and a chance to explore the surroundings. Overnight at camp.
DAY 11: Italian Base Camp To Dhaulagiri Base Camp
Today most of our walk will be through snowy trails. After walking for
about 6 – 7 hours we reach Dhawalagiri base Camp. We must enter Dhaualagiri Base Camp keeping Dhaualagiri 1 on the right and Dhaualagiri 2 on the left. The trail is difficult but the scenic beauty is breath taking. We spend the night at this base camp.
DAY 12: Dhaulagiri Base Camp To Rrench Col
After walking for about 5 – 6 hours on the snowy trail, we reach French Col from where one can see the Dhawalagiri range and the Annapurna range. We camp for the night at French Col.
DAY 13: Rest Day / Explore Day At French Col
Today we take rest and explore the surroundings, taking time to enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountains. We camp overnight here
DAY 14: French Col To Dhampus Pass
Today we walk for about 5 – 6 hours, through the snowy trail towards the Dhampus crossing the Dhampus pass. We spend the night at Dhampus. Overnight at camp.
DAY 15: Dhampus Pass To Tukuche
Today we walk for about 2 hours through the level trail and an onwards for a further 3 – 4 hours on a steep downhill path to Tukuche village where we spend the night. This place is famous for home made apple brandy. We camp overnight here.
DAY 16: Tukuche To Ghasa
The vegetation changes dramatically from dry arid desert to pine and conifer forests on the way between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna regions. On this part of the trail we also see magnificent views of the Annapurna range on the way to Ghasa where we stay for the night.
DAY 17: Ghasa To Tatopani
Descending gradually to Tatopani trekkers enter a region of valleys and fields. We pass the beautiful Rupse waterfall is passed before reaching Dana village for lunch and trek onwards to Tatopani where we will stay for the night. You also have the opportunity to soak in the natural hot springs at Tatopani and rest tired muscles.
DAY 18: Tatopani To Ghorepani
Today we walk to Ghorepani through a steep upward trail. We spend
the night at Ghorepani and enjoy the beautiful views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges close by.
DAY 19: Ghorepani To Thikhedunga
Descend to Thikhedunga and on the way you can see mules passing by, loaded with goods. Walking distance is 4 hrs.
DAY 20: Thikhedunga To Pokhara
A short 3 hour downhill walk in the morning will bring us to Nayapul, where we finish the trek. From here, we will take a local bus to Pokhara, a 2 hour drive from here.
Day 21: Drive back to Kathmandu. 200 k.m. 5-6 hrs Bus Journey
Today, in the morning you will drive back to Kathmandu with river views of Marsyangdi and Trisuli River. The drive passes through numerous towns and farm villages with great scenery of the farm fields, terrace landscapes. Reaching Kathmandu, you will return to the hotel and have the evening to explore the surrounding areas or to relax in the Hotel.
This is a full day at leisure to rest and relax, to explore the local area and perhaps do a bit of last minute shopping at the heart of Kathmandu valley. You also have the option of doing some sight-seeing including Bhaktapur and Patan. Afterwards, you will have an evening farewell dinner with your crew and overnight at Hotel.
Day23: Departure from Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
Note: The itinerary may flexible during the trek depending upon the clients requirements and fitness.
