Trip Introduction
Everest Base camp tour from the Tibet site is one of the most hidden, beautiful and untamed place in the world with its rich culture with hundreds of Monastery and chorten can be seen during your whole trip to Tibet that is starting to emerge from centuries of isolation. This trip aims to introduce you to wonderful and colorful city of Lhasa with exotic ancient mysteries and wild beauty of Tibet and make the journey to the Base Camp of the highest peak in the world, Mt. Everest. Day 01: Arrival to Lhasa (3650m/11,972ft)
Upon arrival at Gonggor airport or rail station we’ll be met by our local Tibetan guide and assist you to transfer to hotel in Lhasa. On arriving in Lhasa it’s time to check in at the hotel and group meeting at hotel and we will inform you all about the program and the remainder of today is at leisure to relax and acclimatize at Lhasa. We’ll stay in standard hotel in Lhasa on twin sharing accommodation.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Norbulinka, Sera and Jokhang Temple
After acclimatize yesterday today we’ll take time to explore the heart of Tibet, the holy and known as Forbidden City of Lhasa. Explore Norbulinka Palace, in Tibetan ‘beautiful gardens’ and the summer palace home for the 7th to the 14th Dalai Lama. At serene Sera Monastery, enjoy watching the monks animatedly debating the Buddhist scriptures and see the wonderful collection of ancient murals and statues as well as scriptures written in gold powder, wonderful scroll paintings, tapestries and Thangka that can be seen throughout. Join the medieval bustle of pilgrims, worshippers, performers and traders in and around Jokhang Temple, the most revered religious structure in Tibet. Follow the pilgrimage circuit along the ancient streets of the old town around Barkhor Bazaar and return back to same hotel for overnight.
Day 03: Sightseeing in Potala palace and Dreprung Monastery
Today, we’ll take time to explore the heart of Tibet, the holy and forbidden city of Lhasa. Explore the vast halls and chapels of impressive Potala Palace, former home of the Dalai Lamas and an awe inspiring lanadmark that dominates the skyline over Lhasa. After visit Potala palace enjoy the solemnity of holy Dreprung Monastery, once the largest monastery in the world and now the largest and richest monastery in Tibet, founded in 1416 and a place of study for many of the most learned lamas and enjoy the day and return back to hotel for overnight.
Day 04: Lhasa to Gyantse (3950m/12,956ft)
After breakfast today we’ll drive to Gyantse about 261 km, a small town close to the Friendship Highway and known for its giant stupa and fortress. En route we’ll cross high Himalayan passes and visit Lake Yamdrok –Tso, a wonderful turquoise blue lake, the third largest on the Tibetan Plateau (Note: There is two way to get to Gyantse and depends on a season and operating we have reserve the right to make a decision alternative way). The lake is sacred to Tibetan Buddhists and lies like a beautiful giant sapphire set amidst the surrounding mountains, at an elevation of (4400m/14,432ft) above sea level. Reaching at Gyantse we’ll check in to our budget hotel for the overnight and rest of the time explore the surrounding area.
Day 05: Gyantse to Shigatse (3900m/12,792ft)
Today following breakfast we’ll spend the morning sightseeing in Gyantse including a visit to Gyantse Monastery. From here we’ll travel on to Shigatse driving by 90 Km. where we’ll check in and relax overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Shigatse to Shegar (4100m/13,448ft)
This morning we’ll visit Tashilumpo Monastery before driving on to reach Shegar. Tashilumpo lies at the foot of Drolmari, or Tara's Mountain, on the western side of Shigatse. It is one of Tibet's most influential monasteries, founded in 1477 by Gendun Drukpa, the first Dalai Lama. Inside the monastery, the Maitreya Chapel is the tallest building and houses the world’s largest brass statue of Buddha at 26.2 meters (86 feet) high, seated on a 3.8 meter (12 foot) high lotus throne made of gold, brass and precious gems. We’ll carry on reaching at Shegar after 244 km drive. Shegar is not far (around 100km) from Base Camp but the poor road means it takes around 4 hours to reach there.
Day 07: Shegar to Rongbuk (4800m/15,744ft)
This morning after breakfast we drive to Rongbuk through beautiful Tibetan countryside. After reaches at Rongbuk check in to the basic hotel, where is you need to be sharing room with other travel and remaining time we’ll take to explore Rongbuk Monastery – the highest monastery in the world and back to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 08: Explore Everest Base camp (5,150m/16,892ft)
This day we are visiting the world highest mountain Mt. Everest base camp, a truly amazing and memorable experience. This morning we’ll drive to Everest Base Camp and take plenty of time to explore the area and back to Rongbuk for overnight. Remaining time think about the amazing memorable scenery and relax at the hotel watch and go by Tibetan lifestyle.
Day 09: Rongbuk to Zhangmu (2,300m/7,544ft)
We following our breakfast and continuing our further journey to Zhangmu with 123 km drive today. This place also known as Khasa bazzar, Zangmu sits on a mountainside10km inland from the Friendship Bridge over the Bhote Koshi River. It’s a small town built along a winding road that has become a major trading post between Tibet and Nepal that also enjoys a subtropical climate of warm, humid weather and beautiful scenery throughout the year. En route we’ll be crossing over the Lalung La pass from where we’ll have magnificent views of Mt Cho Oyu (8,201m/26,900ft) and Mt Shishapagma (8,212m/26,935ft), magnificent peaks that seem dwarfed by the height of Tibet itself and we descent from Nyalam to Zhangmu for overnight.
Day 10: Zhangmu to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
This morning we’ll drive back across the Tibet –Nepal border at Kodari and after the custom formalities we drive to Kathmandu through the beautiful Nepalese countryside takes (4-5 hours). After check in to the hotel remaining time rest and relax at the hotel.
Day 11: Leisure at Kathmandu
This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure at your own or can be extends your extra trip with us on additional cost or time to explore the Thamel for last day shopping and evening company will meet you for the farewell dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 12: Departure from Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination
