Introduction

This is a pristine area newly opened for village tourism. Apart from the stunning landscape and views of the Annapurna region, Ghalegaun offers a real opportunity to become a part of village life, lodging with local Gurung families. This area is also home to the famous honey hunters of Nepal. This short trek is the perfect complement to discovering some of the other highlights of Nepal – historic towns, white water rafting and the country’s most famous conservation area. Ghalegaun is an exotic pristine village endowed with an unparallel scenic grandeur and a home to Gheles the famed Gurungs the legendary mid-hill people of western Nepal. Repository of a unique ethnic culture Ghelegaun is a true microcosm of stunning natural beauty mixed with an unspoiled ethnic life style.
Ghale gaun is picturesque hill town of western Nepal. Perchedatop a ridge at an altitude of 2016 meters from the sea level, Glalegaun is probably the only place which commands a superb breathtaking view of majestic western Himalayas including Machhapuchhare(6693m) Annapurna(8091m), Annapurna II (7939m) Annapurna IV (7525m), Lamjung Himal, Bouddha Himal((6974m), Himalchuli(6747m) and many more smaller peaks. Taking advantage of such a unique location, Ghalegaun- a picturesque hamlet of about 106 Gurung style houses, has recently been marketed as a new destination to experience Village tourism. Accordingly quite a number of houses have been prepared for domestic and international visitors with comfortable basic amenities.
Ghalegaun -Ghanpokhara are model villages for experiencing the typical culture and lifestyle of the Gurung people. Traditional customs are still followed during births, deaths, marriages and at other important times in a person?s life. Age-old cultural dances like the Jhyaure, Serka, Dohori, Ghantu, Ghyabring, Krishna Charitra and Jhakri are performed on various occasions accompanied by different musical instruments with the dancers in traditional dress.

Day to day itinerary

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Namaste & welcome to Himalayan Planet of Nepal. While you landed at the Tribhuvan intl. airport Nepal Himalaya Guide representative welcomes you with your name and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, bring you at head office and briefing about the program and evening we’ll pick up you for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with cultural program in the heart of Kathmandu and overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: A Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley
After your breakfast to head on for our guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise.

After visiting Bouddhanath stupa we’ll drive to the City of Devotees (Bhaktapur). This traditional and traffic free town is the third biggest town in the Valley. We’ll explore the medieval like squares, courtyards and temples of this vibrant town. After a stop for lunch at restaurant in Bhaktapur it’s time to drive back to Kathmandu and meet up with your travel consultant & fellows to prepare for next day and overnight at the hotel. Alternatively, the same group may have option to choose same 3 sightseeing place inside Kathmandu valley instead of these given place.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara valley (823m/2,700ft)
With a morning wake up guide will pick up you and transfer to the tourist bus station and drive (approximately seven hours with breaks) through the beautiful river view & Nepalese countryside to reach the Pokhara lakeside and transfer to the hotel and rest of the time explore the surrounding lakeside areas and overnight at hotel.

Day 04: Pokhara to Pakhrikot/Nangidhar (1,900m/6,232ft)
After a very exciting 3 hour drive in the rough roads, we will reach Thumsikot. Thumsikot is about 3 hours drive from Pokhara. The drive is a very exciting drive, the rough roads, the awesome beauties, the flora and fauna that one gets to see is simply awesome. One can also enjoy the beautiful Begnas lakes and other seven lakes of the region. After the initial easy trek, it now will be a tough ascend for Nangidhar and Pakhrikot; beautiful Gurung villages lying at an altitude of approximately 1900 meters. You can see the beautiful cultures and the lifestyles of the Serga village people.

Day 05: Nangidhar to Pasgaun (1,636m/5,366ft) 5 hours
The trek starts with several hours straight walk and the trekking routes passed through jungles, beautiful waterfalls and the chirpings of the birds, then after it is a straight descend for another 2 hours for a place called Bagaicha for lunch. After lunch we continuously walk to Pasagaun village. This village is much more cleanly compared to the Nangidhar or Pakhrikot and even the food is good and even the beds were much more comfortable.

Day 06: Pasgaun to Bhujung (1,960m/6,428ft) 5 hours
After breakfast, we will head to Khumeru Danda (2,200m/7,216ft) of about 2 hours along the dense sub-tropical forest. From the Khumeru Dada, you can view the massif views of Mt. Manaslu, Ngagi Chuli, Himal Chuli, Boudha Himal and Bhujung Village. From the top, you need to descend down till Midim River of 2 hours walking. You can enjoy seeing the mini hydro power at the Midim Khola. From the Midim Khola, we need to climb up of about 30 minutes. Bhujung contains the largest Gurung population in the area, with over 400 households that pride themselves on their rich cultural heritage. They have even generated their own electricity supply and are considered pioneers in conservation and development in the area.

Day 07: Bhujung to Ghalegaun (2,095m/6,871ft) 4 hours
After breakfast, we move to Ghalegaun. We ascend up of gradual steep of 30 minutes. After that the trail is straight with the super views of Lamjung Himal, Annapurna II and top of Machhapurchre. On the way to Ghale gaun, you will see hills of 13 districts with Midim Khola view. We will have good views of Mt. Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli, Himalchuli, Boudha Himal, Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal and enjoy sunset in the evening.

Day 08: Ghalegaun to Khudi (816m/2,676ft)
drive back to Kathmandu. The day's trek is simply downhill. One has to continuously down trek for almost four hours before one can stop for Lunch at Khudi. The trail passes through the beautiful forest, if you are lucky enough you will also get to see some of the wildlife this area holds a tremendous potentiality for bird watching. It really can be a birdwatcher's paradise.evening join Nepali cultural show in Kathmandu.

Day 09: Khudi to Kathmandu
It is a hot, 7 hour drive back to Kathmandu, so we'll try to head off early and stop for lunch en route back. It is a different world back in the Nepali hills, and the gentle light sends us on our way back to the bustle of Nepal's capital.

Day 10: Leisure at Kathmandu
This is a full day at leisure to rest and relax, to explore the local area and perhaps do a bit of last minute shopping at the heart of Kathmandu valley. You also have the option of doing some sight-seeing including Bhaktapur and Patan. Afterwards, you will have an evening farewell dinner with your crew and overnight at Hotel.

Day 11: Departure from Kathmandu
Today’s is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
