About Gorkha A 25 kilometer road off the main highway connecting Pokhara and Kathmandu brings you to an ancient Gorkha - the untouched and captivating town of Nepal! Some 300 years ago, Nepal was divided into 50 tiny states, and Gorkha was one of them. King Prithivi Narayan Shah, the founder of `Shah Dynasty' which runs Nepal today, unified Nepal into one kingdom. His Gorkha palace resides on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,329 feet (about 1,320 meter) The King would watch-over his people as far as his eyes could see from the tallest palace in the very center of Nepal! A very beautiful Gurung village Laprak is situated in the north of a historic town Gorkha. The route is not so frequented so one who prefer to do the trek in isolated area is the best trek and to discover this gurung village of Laprak (2200m). Overall there are about 500 houses and the habitants of 2400 who are following the Bouddhist culture and strong traditions of their ancestors. There are major two routes to reach to this gurung village of Laprak either by crossing Daraundi valley or along side of the Diarchy hill. Diarchy is one the major view point from where one could admire the panoramic view of the ranges of Himalayan and some summits: Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Buddha Himal, Himalchuli, Manaslu, Annapurna and others.

Day to day itinerary

Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Namaste & welcome to Himalayan Planet of Nepal. While you landed at the Tribhuvan intl. airport Nepal Himalaya Guide representative welcomes you with your name and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed, bring you at head office and briefing about the program and evening we’ll pick up you for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with cultural program in the heart of Kathmandu and overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: A Guided sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley
After your breakfast to head on for our guided day trip to world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley and visit the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding areas. We take you to visit the pilgrimage sites of Hindus temple Pashupatinath, one of the most important shrine of Shiva temples on the subcontinent which is place of thousand of devotees, Saddhus (holy men/Baba), and can be seen the cremating body most of the times in the holy riverbank of Bagmati. Hundreds of monkeys are giggling with you and take a time to exploring surrounding area and visit Bouddhanath stupa an another pilgrimage centre which is most popular and important place for Buddhist. You can explore with rounding prayer wheel and flattering colorful flag with melodious chanting noise.

After visiting Bouddhanath stupa we’ll drive to the City of Devotees (Bhaktapur). This traditional and traffic free town is the third biggest town in the Valley. We’ll explore the medieval like squares, courtyards and temples of this vibrant town. After a stop for lunch at restaurant in Bhaktapur it’s time to drive back to Kathmandu and meet up with your travel consultant & fellows to prepare for next day and overnight at the hotel. Alternatively, the same group may have option to choose same 3 sightseeing place inside Kathmandu valley instead of these given place.

Day 03: Kathmandu to Gorkha (1,320m/4,329ft) 5 hrs drive
In the morning trek departure to Gorkha and on arrival visit the ancient Royal Palace. Gorkha a beautiful historic place was habitation of brave Gorkha older and also from where unification of single Nepal, was began by our Late King Prithivi Narayan Shah. Before 1775 it was the capital of Nepal too. The temples of Gorakhnath and Kali inside the palace premises are attractively made during the great festival of Hindus, the "fulpati" was brought from this place to Kathmandu.

Day 04: Gorkha to Arkul (800m/2,624ft) 6 hrs walk
The trail commence the trek climbing down towards the Daraudi khola, after crossing the river the trail climb gradually up to the hill come to Arkul in a valley. Here the trail could enjoy the tropical climate with some paddy field and some villages.

 Day 05: Arkul to Baluwa (900m/2,952ft) 5 hrs walk
Today the trail cross the Daraundi River and then continue the trek up to Baluwa. On the way the trail          amuse with the beautiful sceneries, some paddy field and encounters with some villages.

Day 06: Baluwa to Barpak (2,000m/6,560ft) 6 hrs walk
Today, for about 2 hours the trail continue the trek alongside the river then climb up to a village of Ghale known as Barpak. Ghales are regarded as the high cast among the gurungs. Lots of people from this village often prefer to join in battalion of India or England. After leaving the Daraundi River the trail could see a super view of Buddha Himal.

Day 07: Barpak to Laprak (2,200m/7,216ft) 6 hrs walk
Today climb 3h up to stiff pass Pussu Danda. The trail enter into a forest of rhododendrons. Once again from the high altitude could see an extraordinary view of Buddha Himal, Shringi Himal, Ganesh Himal then later descend towards the village of gurung, Laprak, walking in the flank of the mountain.

Day 08: Explore day in Laprak
There are more than 500 houses and 3000 people in this village following the Buddhism culture. The main occupation is the agriculture. Development is still away from life of Laprak is and very hardly they are sustaining their life. Though in this religion Buddhism is practically use also some are influence Hindus religion so we could call -Shamanism. Still they follow barter system to exchange or buy goods like as (rice, oil, clothes, skin etc).

Day 09: Laprak to Sambai (2,800m/9,184ft) 5 hrs walk
Progressively climb up to the steep hill to arrive at balcony of Darchy. Enter into a forest of rhododendrons and cross the Darche pass (3200m). From this pass the trail could admire the beautiful view of ranges of the Annapurna (8091 m), the great Manaslu (8153 m) and the Ganesh Himal (7406m), and the summit of Langtang Ri (7245m).

Day 10: Sambai- Tutneri (1,400m/4,592ft) 6 hrs walk
Today also trail climb up in a forest of rhododendrons and cross the Darche pass at 3,200m, from this point the admiration of superb panoramic view of Buddha Himal, the Shringi Himal, the Ganesh Himal and later about 1h descend towards the Bivouac.

Day 11: Tutneri to Ghayampésal (1,200m/3,936ft), 6hrs walk
Progressively trail descends towards Ghayambesal. On the temperature is hotter than and enter into tropical climate crossing some villages of Gurungs, Magar, Brahmans and Chhandris. The main cultivation is millet, maize, oranges, and potatoe

Day 12: Ghyampesal to Gorkha and Kathmandu 8 hrs drive
Today we drive first 3 hours to gorkha and we change another bus to Kathmandu and another 5 hours drive from here. Total 8 hours drive today.

Day 13: Leisure at Kathmandu
This is a full day at leisure to rest and relax, to explore the local area and perhaps do a bit of last minute shopping at the heart of Kathmandu valley. You also have the option of doing some sight-seeing including Bhaktapur and Patan. Afterwards, you will have an evening farewell dinner with your crew and overnight at Hotel.

Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu
Today’s is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
