Trip Introduction

This is a long trek up the Arun river and climbs over the high pass at Siptonla at 4216m into the remote Arun valley, Nepal 's newest national park. A rough trail leads past yak pastures and glaciers to the foot of Mt. Makalu . The trek continues to Makalu base camp visiting one of the most remote and unfrequented areas in Nepal. The Maximum elevation on this trek is at Makalu base camp, 5000m. you have the choice to continue either on the more difficult path to Sherpini Col. which leads to the Everst region or you can take an easier shortcut path to Tumlingtar. While being on this trail, one can view the mountain ranges from Mt. Kanchen Junga to Mt. Gauri Shanker and also some of the Tibetan peaks.
For this trek you will need a very good fitness as the trail is one of the most difficult treks in Nepal.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Namaste and welcome to the Himalayan country of Nepal. You will be meet at the airport and be transfered to your hotel for check-in. After time to get refreshed, you will be meet in the evening for a welcome dinner in one of the finest Nepalese restaurants which includes a cultural show. Then afterwards you will be briefed about your trip and brought back to the Hotel for your overnight stay.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley sight-seeing
Today, after breakfast you will go on a guided sightseeing tour of the highlights of Kathmandu and the surrounding Valley. You will visit Swoyambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple , with its fine views over Kathmandu valley. The temple has many interesting features as well as the great stupa with highest point to the Kathmandu valley.
After this you can join the devotees, pilgrims and wandering saddhus (holy men) at Pashupatinath. Pashupatinath is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal as well as being one of the most important Shiva temples on the subcontinent. It is situated on the banks of the holy Bagmati River where you may have a chance to see a cremation on the River bank.
Take time to walk around Bodhnath (Boudha) stupa, the largest in Nepal and one of the largest in the world. Boudha is also the centre of Tibetan culture in Nepal and a wonderfully vibrant, interesting community.
Explore the temples and courtyards of Patan, also known as the City of Fine Arts . In the evening we'll drive back to Kathmandu where we'll have a group briefing on what to expect when our trek begins tomorrow. The remainder of the evening is free for you to explore the surrounding area or simply relax at the hotel.

Day 03: Fly To Tumlingtar And Trek To Khandbari
After an early breakfast, transfer to the domestic airport in Kathmandu to connect with the flight to Tumlingtar. Upon reaching Tumlingtar commence trekking towards Khandbari where we will camp overnight.

Day 04: Khandbari To Chichile
Today, we head towards Chichile, starting through one of the most difficult trails in Nepal . After a 6 – 7 hours walk, we reach Bhotebas and further on to Chichile. On the way one can see some small Sherpa villages inhabited by people of Tibetan origin. There are also good views of the Arun Valley from here. We stay overnight at chichile.

Day 05: Chichile To Num
We walk for about 7-8 hours, passing through several small villages on the way and crossing up and down steep slopes Finally, we will reach the small village of Num where we will stay for the night.

Day 06: Num To Seduwa
We continue on the trail, passing through many more small villages to reach to the banks of the river Arun after 3-4 hours walking. After crossing the Arun River we walk for another 4 hours uphill to Seduwa where we will stay for the night.

Day 07: Seduwa To Tashi Gaon
We continue on the trail for about 4 – 5 hours and pass through the dense forest before reaching Tashi Gaon. Tashi Gaon is the last village on the trail until Chhukum and we will stay here for the night.

Day 08: Tashi Gaon To Khongmala
Today we walk for about 7 – 8 hours towards Khongmala, enjoying the beautiful views of the mountain ranges on the way. We continue walking until we reach Khongmala where we will stay for the night.

Day 09: Khongmala To Mumbuk
Today we cross two passes, Sipton (4075 M) and Tu Tula pass. We walk through the jungle for a further 3- 4 hours until we reach Mumbuk where we will stay for the night.

Day 10: Mumbuk To Yanjila Kharka
We continue on the trail uphill a hill and 1 hour after the hill we will stop for lunch. After lunch, continue walking for about 2 – 3 hours more to reach Yanjila Kharka where we stay overnight.

Day 11: Yanjila Kharka To Jack Kharka
We walk through the steep up and downhill trail and through the forest for about 7 - 8 hours to reach Jack Kharka where we stay overnight.

Day 12:Jack Kharka To Merak
We walk for 2 – 3 hours along the bank of Arun river and cross steep up and down hill slopes to reach Ramara where we will have lunch. After lunch we head towards Merak walking for 3- 4 hours. We will stay here overnight and can enjoy the views of the massif of Mt. Makalu which is visible from here.

Day 13: Merak To Makalu Base Camp
Today we head towards Makalu Base Camp, which takes about 4 – 5 hours walk through the a gravel and snow covered path. During the walk, we can see a range of mountains and various colorful rocks. We will stay overnight at MBC.

Day 14: Explore Day At Makalu Base Camp
We can rest today at MBC to acclimatise and one can also visit to Arun pond nearby where you can see its dual colored water. We stay overnight at MBC

Day 15: Makalu Base Camp To Kuna Camp (also known as Puja Camp)
We walk through a gravel path for about 5-6 hours and along the bank of a small snowmelt river. Finally, we reach high camp (Kuna Camp OR Puja Camp) and stay overnight here. Mt. Makalu can be seen from here

Day 16: Kuna Camp To Advance High Camp
We walk for 4 – 5 hours on a steep uphill trail to reach advance high camp where we will stay overnight.

Day 17: Advance High Camp To Baruntse Base Camp
We walk for 2 – 3 hours up a steep hill with the help of a rope. We cross east – west col to reach Baruntse Base Camp after a further 3 – 4 hours. We will stay here for the night.

Day 18: Baruntse Base Camp To Panch Pokhari
We walk for about 5 – 6 hours on a steep upward trail and pass many small ponds to reach Panch Pokhari, where we stay for the night.

Day 19: Panch Pokhari To Chhukum
After walking steeply uphill for about 3 – 4 hours we reach the top Ama Lapcha. We descend to the other side of Ama Lapcha with the help of a rope. The descent takes about 1 hour. After this we walk for another 3 – 4 hours on a steep up and downhill trail to reach Chhukum. On the way we can see the peak of Mt. Everest, Peak 39, Island peak and Ama Dablam. We stay over night at Chhukum.

Day 20: Chhukum To Tengboche
We start walking towards Tengboche crossing Dingboche and Pheriche and the walk takes about 7 – 8 hours walk. Today we stay overnight at Tengboche. Overnight at camp.

Day 21: Tengboche To Namche
Today we head towards Namche which takes about 6 – 7 hours walk. On the way enjoy the view of Khumbu valley where one can also see the various peaks. Overnight at camp.

Day 22: Namche To Lukla
Today we head towards Lukla, which takes about 7 – 8 hours walk. On the way enjoy scenic beauty of Namche from a distance and the Khumbu Valley. Today we stay at Lukla. Overnight at camp OR Lodge.

Day 23: Fly To Kathmandu
Fly to Kathmandu. Transfer to the hotel in Kathmandu and rest of the day will remain at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 24: Leisure At Kathmandu
This is a full day at leisure to rest and relax, to explore the local area and perhaps do a bit of last minute shopping at the heart of Kathmandu valley. You also have the option of doing some sight-seeing including Bhaktapur and Patan. Afterwards, you will have an evening farewell dinner with your crew and overnight at Hotel.

Day25: Departure From Kathmandu
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you’ll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.

Note: The itinerary may flexible during the trek depending upon the clients requirements and fitness.
